Do You Celebrate Your Friendships?

Did you know that friendships are just just as important as romantic relationships?

It’s true!

I’m not sure why, but romantic relationships seem to get all the glory. It’s really a shame because those close bonds we have with our best friends have such a huge impact on our happiness, well-being, and even our longevity. Especially for women.

They deserve the spotlight from time to time!

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we have such an opportunity with two special holidays that I love - Galentine’s day and Finnish Friendship Day.

Galentine's Day is celebrated on February 13th, and first came about in 2010. The brainchild of Amy Poehler, by way of the beloved sitcom character from Parks and Rec, Leslie Knope. The intent?

You probably already guessed it.

Celebrating your female friendships that bring a little joy into your life.

I learned about Finnish Friendship Day more recently, but this one has been on the books for longer and began showing up in official calenders in 1996. It falls on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, and the idea here? In case you’re not romantically involved, it’s a lovely way to celebrate your nearest and dearest female friendships.

And really, who says romantic relationships should get all the attention?

We should be showing our friends a little love to.

I always gravitate towards these things and it got me thinking - how can I help women celebrate their friends and do something creative and meaningful together?

That's why I'm inviting you to come and make something beautiful and sustainable with your bestie in my upcoming Upcycled Bracelet Workshop!

Making things with my own two hands is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. I’m so very lucky that I get to do it for a living, and I can’t wait to share the experience with you!

There’s so many reasons I love my job, and these are my top three reasons for doing an upcycled jewelry workshop with your bestie:

It's a Bonding Experience

Making something with your hands is a great way to bond with others, and doing it with your best friend makes it even more special. You'll work together to create something beautiful, and you'll share the experience of learning a new skill.

Whether you have a little experience or are completely new to jewelry making, you'll have a blast as you work together to create your own unique pieces.

It’s an Empowering Experience

Being a jewelry designer is one of the first things I ever wanted to be. There was just something magical about working with the metals and stones that captured my imagination and sparked my creativity. As I grew older, it become something I turned to as a way to clear my mind, relax, and get a little creative. It’s incredible to create something that didn’t exist before, and it’s a really empowering experience.

Whether you're looking to improve your focus, reduce stress, or just have some fun, making jewelry is an excellent way to do it.

It's a Sustainable Experience

Sustainability is always on my mind, and I think about it a lot when it comes to my work. Upcycling inherently creative and sustainable because it makes use of materials that may not get thrown away. In my work, I'm always thinking about the environmental impact of mining and I make a real effort to use everything that I can. My workshop is designed with this in mind. I want to share the experience of making something beautiful with your hands, while also using overstock materials from the studio so you can create a beautiful designer bracelet.

Not only will you leave with a piece of jewelry that you can wear for years to come, your beautiful new bracelet already has a story to tell.
