A Personal Note on the Beauty of Glimmers

Glimmer vs Trigger
A glimmer is a delicious little moment in life that brings a little peace and balance to your soul, and makes everything feel like it's gonna be ok. It's basically the opposite of a trigger, and life is full of them.
The only problem?
Sometimes it's just hard to see them. This is especially true in rough or challenging times.
This summer has had a lot of ups and downs for me personally, and it really threw me off. I felt really lost and just wasn't quite sure where to focus my energy, so I decided to take a little break from social media and a few other things to catch my footing.
But a wonderful little thing happened to bring me back. Quite a few little things, actually. And the best part? These lovely little moments gave me a wonderful little burst of energy and revived my spirit.
So much so, that I felt really compelled to share it with you!
Ever Heard the Term "Glimmer of Hope"?
It's something I've always heard, but never really thought much about. I tend to associate the saying with my dad because he was an astronomer, and was absolutely obsessed with the night sky. I can't tell you how many times he'd wake the whole family up, and drive us all off to some remote location in the middle of nowhere with a ridiculously giant telescope in tow so we could be witness to all a miraculous astronomical event like Halley's comet or the annual Perseid meteor shower.
Not gonna lie, my enthusiasm for these events was totally nonexistent compared to my dad's. In those days, my universe was limited to Barbies, playgrounds and tea parties. It would be years before I had much interest. I remember being grumpy and tired, but as I looked through the telescope, he'd always say,
"No matter how dark things get, you'll always find light in those little stars glimmering in the sky. The more you see, the easier it will be to find your way."
I didn't really think much about this moment - a glimmer all its own - until recently.
I'm glad I decided to show myself a little compassion as I was fumbling through my summer, because it helped get me in a state to be able to see glimmers here and there.
Slowly but surely, I started being able to see little glimmers in my life that I had been missing.
They revealed themselves in special little moments like the glorious glowing full moon, a summer rain in full sunlight that had the raindrops shining like diamonds in the sky, or enjoying an unexpected silly moment with someone I loved.
At some point, I was seeing them everywhere and I thought of my dad and those long nights under the stars. All those little glimmering moments were like the twinkling stars in the night sky. The more I saw, the more I found my way back to where I needed to be.
I'm so glad I could see them when I needed them most.
So consider this a gentle reminder...
Take a moment out of your busy day to take in the glimmers life has to offer, because those little moments can help you more than you know.
What glimmers light you up? I'd love to hear!
