Notes on the Energy Work Journal

Welcome to the Energy Work Journal!

When I started mapping this out, I wanted a simple place to document what I notice in my sessions and in daily life. A notebook for what actually happens when we pay attention to what's going on, inside and out.

Since completing an intensive apprenticeship and facilitating hundreds of hours of hands-on case study sessions, my main takeaway is this: Energy work sounds impossibly simple, but what people carry is most certainly not.

As this journal takes shape, it will serve as a way for me to share what I've learned in my daily life and practice. For now, I'll be writing on three distinct topics.

1. Energy Work in Practice: Modalities, Tools, and Mechanics

First and foremost, we’ll talk about the practical reality of energy work. That means pulling back the curtain on the modalities I use on the table and over distance—primarily Usui Reiki, Earth energy practices, and tarot.

I don’t view these modalities as mystical shortcuts or dramatic rituals. Reiki is a systematic way of supporting the nervous system, encouraging the body into the parasympathetic state where repair actually happens. Tarot, in my practice, is a reflective map of what's going on inside.

We will explore how these tools work, why they work, and how they interact with the body’s natural rhythms. You will find practical breakdowns of energetic hygiene, boundary setting, and real-world integration.

2. Emotions as Energy: The Mechanics of Transmutation

If there is one undeniable truth that emerged from my life and case study sessions, it is this: emotions are not merely abstract thoughts. Emotions are a tangible form of energy, and they hold invaluable information.

When you experience anger, grief, anxiety, or prolonged stress, that emotional charge doesn’t simply disappear into the ether. It registers physiologically. It tightens around muscles, dysregulates breathing, and alters posture. Left unaddressed, it creates energetic stagnation.

Here, we will explore emotional transmutation. This is the process of shifting, releasing, and transforming that stored energy rather than letting it run the show. A core part of this is realizing how much agency you actually have. When you change how you think, you change how you feel. This isn't just an intuitive philosophy; it's backed by neuroscience and cognitive biology. Your thought patterns send direct chemical and physiological cues to your nervous system. By learning how to work with both the mental framework and the somatic sensation simultaneously, you gain the ability to shift stagnant emotional weight into clarity and momentum.

3. Family Lore: The Roots of a Personal Practice

The third pillar is deeply personal. I’m calling it the Family Lore series.

None of us arrive at our callings in a vacuum. Long before I held formal certifications in energy work or grief facilitation, my perception was shaped by the environments I grew up in, the stories passed down through generations, and the lived experiences of loss, resilience, and transition.

For decades, my hands-on work with natural materials and structure gave me an appreciation for how things are made. Woven throughout that was the presence of ancestral roots, family histories, and learning to understand the language and lessons that life was teaching me.

In this series, I’ll be sharing those stories. Partially for nostalgia, and partially because our personal lore is the raw material that shapes how we hold space for others. Understanding where you come from is often the first step in understanding the energy you carry today.

Let’s Build This Space Together

The Energy Work Journal is designed to be an active, living dialogue. I'm not here to tell you what to do; that's what your intuition is for. I want this to be a resource that answers the questions you actually have about your body, your nervous system, and your energetic balance.

What questions have you always had about energy work, tarot, or navigating emotional patterns? Is there a specific topic, concept, or practice you’d like me to break down in an upcoming post?

Leave a comment below or send me a quick note. I’d love to know what you want to dig into next.
